Our Program
FCDC is a ministry provided by Fairview Church of God. Our goal is to provide a Christian atmosphere for children to grow intellectually, spiritually, and socially. We offer classes for children ages 6 weeks to preschool age. We are open from 6am to 6pm Monday – Friday and closed on major holidays. We offer preschool classes from age two through four from 8am-12pm everyday. We also have child care available for every age until 6pm.

Our Philosophy
During the first five years of life, a child accumulates and applies more information than in any other time in their life. Fortunately, kids are natural learners, eager scientists, driven to know and understand the world around them and their place in it. We see our role in this process as providing the atmosphere, environment, support, and encouragement to facilitate their enthusiastic explorations.
In order for this to happen, children need to trust that the adults in their world will provide the security necessary to feel confident enough to try new things, take chances, make mistakes, see how things work, ask questions, explore, and have fun doing it! At Fairview Child Development Center we pay a lot of attention not only to what we do, but how we do it.

Our Facility
We are equipped with a new keyless entry system to maintain maximum security during the day for our children. We have a large outdoor playground area for the children to get some fresh air and work on their large muscle skills, and on rainy days we take advantage of our full size gym. Each classroom was designed by professionals and fully equipped to meet every child’s needs.

Parent to Teacher Communication
It is essential to have optimal parent to teacher & director communication in order for each child to excel in our program. It is very important for each parent to read all letters and postings for us to stay on the same track. Everything we do here is for children and in order for it to remain consistent, families must be wiling to support our teaching and discipline techniques.

Curriculum
Our Curriculum is called Learning Foundations it is designed to be used in learning centers, and provide the teachers with themed lessons and activities to gain the most out of Preschool Education. The lessons start in the Two year old class and go through the 4K room. Each learning center has specific goals and skills for the children. They are learning by doing what they love- PLAY!! Our days are structured and scheduled to meet the needs of the children. Each week the themes change as well as the letter, color, objective, and Bible study. For example, one week in September is called “Things that go”. During that week we have everything here from a tractor to a helicopter for the children to explore and learn about. They learn about why boats float, the origin of transportation, and have fun activities like painting with cars.

A part of their curriculum is learning what God expects of them, how we are to treat others, Bible stories and scripture, and how to be a Christian through example

Director - Shannon Coggin
Mrs. Shannon Coggin started our program this year. I started the program after being obedient to God and knowing that God wants our church to reach out to children. I attended Calhoun Community College before majoring in Business Management at Athens State University. I feel like God has called me to provide a safe, Christian, and loving place for parents to leave their children and know that they are receiving the best care possible. I have the best team of teachers that feel the same way and are dedicated to their class of children. They are all here for no other reason than the children and because they love what they do. Our teachers and myself attend over 36 hours of CER (Childcare Education Resource) training a piece through the year. All of our teachers are CPR certified!!

4K Teacher
Ms. Dee Glassco is our 4K teacher. She has 3 years of experience in a Child Care Center 2 of which were with a preschool. Her life is dedicated to the Lord and her class. She is a joyfull and caring teacher. Ms. Dee’s class works on getting ready for Kindergarten. They work on small word recognition, writing and spelling their names, shapes, Bible study and verse memorization, social skills, self control, creative expression, and many more vital skills that help them excel in school. There is always fun in learning in her class!!
